A Letter to the Public from the Family of John "Jack" Hudson

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we reach out to you today, six years after the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved son, brother, and friend, John "Jack" Hudson. Jack was taken from us on August 8, 2018, at the age of 33, in a violent act that remains unsolved to this day.

Jack was more than just a member of our family; he was a beacon of light in our lives and in the lives of all who knew him. His love for hiking and the outdoors was unmatched—whether he was scaling a mountain or wandering through a forest, Jack found joy and peace in nature’s embrace. He was an adventurous soul, always eager to explore the world around him and share that passion with those he loved.

"Jack had this incredible ability to make everyone feel like they were on an adventure, even if we were just walking through the neighborhood," recalls his sister, Emily. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he had a way of bringing joy to even the simplest moments. His absence has left a void that can never be filled.

As a family, we are writing to you not only to honor Jack’s memory but to ask for your help. For six long years, we have been searching for answers, seeking justice for Jack. Despite the tireless efforts of law enforcement, his murder remains unsolved. We live every day with the pain of not knowing who took Jack from us, and we fear that his killer remains out there, unpunished.

We believe that someone out there knows something—no matter how small or seemingly insignificant—that could help us find the person responsible for Jack’s death. We ask you to please come forward if you have any information that could lead to justice for Jack. Your courage could make all the difference in helping us find closure and ensuring that no other family has to endure the pain we have suffered.

We also ask that you keep Jack in your thoughts and prayers. Remember him as the adventurous, kind, and loving person he was. Join us in keeping his spirit alive by spending time outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature as he did, and sharing that joy with others.

We gather every year at Evergreen Park, a place Jack loved dearly, to celebrate his life and renew our commitment to finding the truth. We invite you to join us, to stand with us in our quest for justice, and to help us honor the memory of a man who brought so much light into the world.

Thank you for your support, your kindness, and your willingness to help. Together, we can keep Jack’s memory alive and continue the search for justice.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Hudson Family
